The SFP28 Active Optical Cable is a direct-attach fiber with SFP28 connectors and operates over Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF). This AOC is compliant with the SFF-8432 SFP28 MSA standards.
It provides a cost-efficient solution compared to discrete optical transceivers and optical patch cables and is suitable for 25Gbps connections within racks and across adjacent racks.

A: There are two major advantages of 25G technology. First, by offering a single-lane 25Gbps variant, 25G allows for optimization of the bandwidth available from switch-fabric design, which is typically viewed from a per-pin and therefore per-lane standpoint. The other major advantage is it takes existing module form factors and optical plant factors, such as SFP28 and QSFP28, and allows for a breakout connection that is configurable as either 25G per lane or the full 100G without changing the port on the front of switches and the wholes physical infrastructure.

Mvslink DAC & AOC can only be used in the switch's business port to achieve virtual stacking, but they can not be used in the device's stack port to achieve physical stacking. Stacking through the device's stack port belongs to physical stacking, which needs a specific stacking cable, and it is under development for now.
