HPE Aruba Q9G82A Compatible Qsfp+ Er4 40km Optical Transceiver/Fiber 40g Er4 SMF Optical Module
The QSFP+ module is designed for use in 40GBASE Ethernet throughput up to 40km over single-mode fiber (SMF) using a wavelength of 1310nm via duplex LC connectors. This transceiver is compliant with QSFP+ MSA, IEEE 802.3bm 40GBASE-ER4, and OTU3 standard. Digital diagnostics functions are also available via the I2C interface, as specified by the QSFP+ MSA, to allow access to real-time operating parameters.
Applications: data centers, high-performance computing networks, enterprise core, and distribution layer applications.

Q: Can the 40G ER4 1310nm 40km DOM Transceiver reach the full 40km in data transmission?
A: Full 40km reach requires the use of FEC on the host platform. Without FEC, the actual reach is 30km. FEC (Forward Error Correction) is a technique used for controlling errors in data transmission over unreliable or noisy communication channels, with which the maximum transmission distance of the transceiver can be fully supported. It is normally equipped on the host instead of the transceiver.
Q: Is this QSFP+ transceiver supported on Juniper EX4600?
A: Yes, the QSFP-ER4-40G could be supported on Juniper EX4600.
