Product Description
The Cisco SFP-25G-LR-S compatible SFP28 transceiver provides 25GBase-LR throughput up to 10km over single mode fiber (SMF) using a wavelength of 1310nm via an LC duplex connector. Featuring low power consumption, high speed, this 25G transceiver is ideal for 25G Ethernet, telecom, and data center. Besides, it offers interoperability, laying a foundation for the next-generation network upgrade. Each SFP28 transceiver module is individually tested in targeted switch, it is fully compliant with the SFP28 MSA, CPRI and eCPRI standard.
Note: The FS P/N is changed from SFP28-25GLR-31 to SFP-25GLR-31, but the product is the same. Only the FS P/N has been changed.

A: Hello, The description in the datasheet is mainly a range, that is, the actual module TX power in this range. The module TX power according to the use of environmental changes (such as temperature, equipment power supply, etc.) is automatically adjusted and cannot be modified by artificial adjustment.
Q: Is there any damage to the module if it is used for transmission over a short distance of 10 m for an 25G optical module of 10 km? Do I need to use an attenuator?
A: Hello, we need to ensure that the receiving power of the module is not more than the receiver overload power to avoid the module being broken. That's all you need to do. So to get the 25G LR to work at 10 m, you need to add about 3 dB attenuation.
